First Year Seniors

Classics are seriously right around the corner! I can't even explain my excitement! I'm so excited to see all of the girls, most especially the new first year seniors! I thought I'd share with you some of the new seniors I'm most interested to watch at Classics.

Katelyn Ohashi

Katelyn competed in and won the American Cup earlier this year. I loved watching her routines, most especially her balance beam, which I think has so much potential! At the American Cup she missed on a few of her connections, however, that was way back in March and I'm sure she will have it much more perfected and ready to go by competition time. Katelyn was also the 2011 Junior National Champion.

Simone Biles

Simone Biles also competed at the American Cup earlier this year. I have a feeling that this girl is going to have a HUGE year this year. She is one of the best vaulters I have ever seen and there is a video from the American Cup of her doing an Amanar warmup, which I believe was better than McKayla Maroney's. I hope so much that we see the first TTY from her in competition!!

Lexie Priessman

I've been so excited for Lexie to move up to the senior ranks for the last few years. I love her gymnastics; she is definitely super powerful but I also feel like there is a hint of a graceful quality to it as well. Even though this is only her first year as a senior, she has had tons of international experience already at competitions such as Pacific Rims and Jesolo. Lexie was the 2012 Junior National Champion. Below are some upgrades that she is working on for this season!

Maddie Desch

I'm really excited to see Maddie Desch compete this season! I recently saw a video of her beam upgrades at camp and they look great! She was 1st on BB at the 2012 Junior Nationals and 2nd in the All-Around.

It's going to be so interested to see where these gymnasts factor in with the returning seniors, including Kyla Ross and McKayla Maroney, the only two of the Fierce Five members that will be competing this year. I honestly can't wait for the competitions to begin!

  1. I doubt Ohashi will compete at Classics. She hasn't been at camps because she had shoulder surgery in April.

    1. I know she had surgery but wasn't sure on how far she has progressed with training. I included her in case she is able to compete and/or for the rest of the season (Nationals, Worlds, etc.) hope she won't be out all season!
